This is a touching story of an older couple who are reflecting Christ's love to their neighbors. The love they show and share with the children around them is a testimony of their love for Jesus. Loving thy neighbor as they love themselves. The children enjoy spending evenings with Willie Juan and Ana, and they especially enjoy Ana's warm, sugary sopapillas with a drop of honey! Ana and Willie Juan teach the children about a God of love and that they are each smack-dab in the middle of Abba's love.
I loved that this story showed a couple ministering in their community, being a part of the lives of children and showing them God's love in a very practical and tangible way. I loved that Willie Juan was a father figure to these children, an abba who taught them about Abba God. I also enjoyed seeing the love the children had for Ana and Willie Juan and how the conversation was easily centered around God's love.

Really Woolly Bible Stories

This is my latest book review. I really enjoyed this book. Its for babies and toddlers but my eight year old enjoyed it too. It has Bible stories and lessons that set the foundation for life long learning of christianity. It is a board book so that even the smallest child can carry it wherever they go and "love" it for years to come! It covers stories from creation to Jesus rising to heaven. It even contains a special prayer for you and your child to recite each night. This is such a precious book, it would be perfect for baby's first Christmas or a shower gift. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants their children to receive God's word right from the start!

City on Our Knees

It is rare to find a book that includes so much detail about such a strong christian influence. I have always loved this song and could NOT wait to receive this book. It did not let me down! I was drawn in from the beginning! To see how much influence God has had over his life and what he has done with it is amazing. It just shows what can happen when your listening to God and obeying. Sometimes hard to do but obviously very worth it! A wonderful read and I hope you'll check it out!

Keep talking about God!

Sometimes we as parents find it difficult to express to our children aspects of the Bible. While we know and understand they want to know and understand. I am reading a book with my two boys called "Jesus Calling 365 devotions for kids" by Sarah Young and adapted by Tama Fortner. This is an awesome book! It breaks down scripture to a language that children not only understand but find entertaining. The Bible says to talk with your children about God every day and this is a great way to do that. Read to them and have them tell you what they got out of it. Try it and see!

A Christmas Prayer by Amy Parker

Only once in great while does a book like this come along.I am writing of the book "A Christmas Prayer" written by Amy Parker. Every Christmas I say the same thing, and I do not believe that I am alone when I say "My children do not remember the reason we celebrate Christmas!" It frustrates me to no end that our Lord and Savior are replaced with the "gimmes" all through the Christmas holiday. Don't get me wrong. I am all for Santa but firt and foremost this season is for Jesus and his birth. This book takes the whole story of Jesus' birth and breaks it down one step at a time for even the smallest child to understand. It says "Thank you" for every piece of the story and truly reminds us all what Christmas is REALLY supposed to be about. It should be in every church nursery and every child's book collection. It is wonderful! Don't take my word for it read it yourself!
